Locked down? Business interruption insurance, low-income MSMEs and COVID-19

by MiN, April 16

The debate surrounding business interruption (BI) insurance is manifesting itself like never before in the wake of the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic. Even in a developed world context, where many have the luxury of working remotely, a record number of people have lost their jobs, while businesses have made record losses.

In the face of these challenging circumstances, how can BI insurance help? What are some of its pain points? How can insurers design viable and valuable BI products for emerging MSMEs in developing regions?
